Hi, welcome to my personal website! My name is Xueyun Luo (雪筠, pronounced "Shweh-Yoon"). I am a PhD candidate at Cornell SC Johnson College of Business, advised by Professor Chris Forman. I am a Visiting Student Researcher at the Stanford Digital Economy Lab, and also affiliated with the MIT FutureTech.
My research asks how information technology redistributes economic value in labor markets. I study this question through two streams of work. (1) Focusing on digital platforms as IT-enabled organizational forms and labor markets, I study how changes in platform design and supply-side content reallocate engagement, profits, and attention among suppliers; and (2) focusing on firms more broadly, I leverage U.S. Census data and large-scale online workforce data to examine how information technology reshapes firms’ human capital strategies and individual workers’ career trajectories.
Methodologically, my work involves econometrics and randomized control trials to understand the causal impacts of platform governance policy and digitization strategy. I also adapt and integrate machine learning tools for social and economic empirical studies.
